“Forever chemicals” and “persistent chemicals” are increasingly recognized as global threats. They are now everywhere – in drinking water, diet, and the human blood of the global population. They are very difficult to remove once in the environment and the sources of our drinking water. They are often transported over vast distances.

An example is trifluoroacetic acetate (TFA). TFA is toxic to embryo development and is increasing rapidly in the global population. Without action, the presence of TFA and other toxic forever chemicals will only increase and accumulate.

How can we solve this enormous challenge? NGI researcher Hans Peter Arp is one of the world’s leading experts on persistent, mobile and toxic substances in the environment; he will presenting research and green innovation pathways to prevent future emissions of forever chemicals like TFA from industry and from soil.
